An interview with William J. Bernstein
As I’ve mentioned before, investment writer William Bernstein is almost hostile to growth investing, so he might appear to be an unlikely interview subject for the editor of this site. But I try and keep an open mind and read widely.
His book The Four Pillars of Investing is exceptional and caused me to entirely change the strategy I use for my retirement account. I now make extensive use of index funds, primarily through Vanguard.
Though he’s hostile to growth investing, Bernstein seems to accept there is a “momentum premium”; ie if you’re going to trade the market, trading momentum stocks — which I specialise in — is as good a place as any to be.
A while ago I interviewed William Bernstein for the Investors Chronicle magazine in London about his views on investing.
